Ohio Nurses AssociationOhio Nurses Association joins other We Are Ohio members to deliver 1.3 million signatures to the Secretary of State’s office. Uniting to Defeat Anti-Worker Legislation that Puts Patients’ Lives at Risk

Ohio Nurses Association (ONA) is celebrating a victory in the road to repealing SB 5, legislation that would strip workers of their rights to collectively bargain.

Collecting five times the required number of signatures to put a referendum on the ballot to repeal SB5, ONA and the We Are Ohio coalition are modeling the power of worker unity in preserving our civil liberties and ability to bargain for safe and fair workplace conditions.

  • Reducing violence against nurses is one of NFN’s twonational policy priorities. We’re also working to establish an optimal staffing model. We’ll keep you updated on our two taskforces working in these areas and how you can be involved.
  • NFN concluded its first Federation Assembly, setting priorities and the stage for another two years of success.Read the recap.
  • The Second Annual Labor Academy provided members with the opportunity to learn how to become a more effective advocates, connect with one another, share resources and problem solve issues relating to violence in their workplaces.

KellyMcLean Violence Against Nurses: Eliminating the Cycle of Abuse

  • Kelly McLean was one of almost a half million nurses who were violently assaulted while on duty last year. Sadly, nurses experience more violence on the job than any other profession. Read other stories and share yours.
  • NFN’s Second Annual Labor Academy is May 13–15 in Chicago. The theme is the dynamics of violence in the workplace and how nurses can lead the way in abolishing the cycle of abuse.Do you have something to say about violence against nurses? We’re looking for posters/visual arts presentations (award conferred) that will add to the exchange of ideas at the Academy. Learn more
  • To raise awareness of the state’s new law that makes violence against nurses a felony, the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) launches a poster campaign: “Committing violence against a nurse is a shame and now a felony.”
